Qifa joined Microsoft Research ISRC-PADS in January 2008. Before joining Microsoft, he was a Systems Scientist in Computer Science Department in CMU (2003-2006), and then a Research Scientist in Ricoh California Research Center (2006-2007).

Qifa received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University in 2003. His research interests are Internet image/video search, large scale data management and analysis, computer vision, and machine learning.
