The stages of venture development are common to virtually all new technology based ventures. We feel it is useful to consider separately independent startups and corporate ventures.
Much of the public lore of venturing has been based on successful experiences in independent start-ups such as Compac, Intel, Apple, Conner.
The issues in corporate ventures differ in many ways from the independent model. I will focus on the corporate venture side this afternoon.
We will see some of the differences in this (the next) slide.
