Fabien Petitcolas is with Microsoft Research in Cambridge, England. He heads Intellectual Capital Development which incorporates a number of programmes to support outstanding scientists in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, including the Microsoft Research PhD Scholarship and European Fellowship programmes of the European Science Initiative. Before joining the European Science Initiative, Fabien was a researcher within the Security Research Group.

Fabien graduated in 1996 from École Centrale, Lyon. He then studied at the University of Cambridge under the guidance of Prof. Ross Anderson for a doctorate, which was partly funded by the Intel Corporation and was awarded in 1999 when he joined Microsoft Research.
