I am a research scientist at
Microsoft Research
in the Adaptive Systems Interaction
Focus group.
I am a cognitive psychologist with a background in cognitive neuroscience. My research concerns the exploration and measurement of human interactions with information technology. Some examples:
- Personal information management
- UI for search and retrieval
- Intelligent notifications, disruptions and messaging
- Human input technologies (novel techniques and the tried-and-true!)
- Techniques for optimizing human navigation, exploration and understanding of information spaces
- Multimodal perception and attention
(e.g., What makes a computer generated image look real or artificial? Why?).- All manner of other human-computer interaction topics
- Eye tracking studies of Web search (tech report)
- InkSeine: Ink-based search for active note taking
- Phlat: New User-interfaces for search and filtering
- SIS IQ: Peripheral display of related information
