Vehicular Networking

I'm beginning to see this as one of the more interesting areas within networking research, which has a real chance of having impact. I'm involved in a number of projects -

PVRP - Practical Vehicular Routing Protocol

This is joint work with Giovanni Pau and Paolo Lutterotti and others at UCLA looking at the development of the next generation of routing protocols aimed at Vehicular Networks. In particular we are interested in reducing the overhead of routing protocols by exploiting the context in which they are running.

Broadside

This project aims to build an efficient infrastructure that supports vehicular networking. The current goal is to create an efficient data transfer protocol optimized for short connection periods using off the shelf 802.11a/b/g hardware. This will create the foundations for building other vehicular applications; such as an epidemic content distribution network. This is joint project with Greg O'Shea and Thomas Zahn.
