Note that MMSP'2006 reviewers have been instructed to reject the papers that do not comply with either set of requirements detailed next.

Note also that no additional co-authors may be added later, therefore all co-authors must be included at submission time..

 Content requirements

The papers submitted to MMSP'2006 MUST contain the sections below (preferably in the same order and with the same section titles. A different order, other section titles and more than five sections are allowed as long as the paper content covers all items listed below.)

1) Abstract

  • up to 150 words

  • State the proposed method and the advantages as reflected in the experimental results

  • DO NOT describe the method

  • DO NOT list here experimental values, comparisons, etc.

2) Introduction

  • State the problem

  • Discuss previous work if any (if not, state that, to the best of your knowledge, there are no other attempts to solve the problem)

  • State briefly how the proposed method solves the problem

  • State how the proposed method is different than previous works

3) Proposed method

  • Enumerate what this section contains

  • Describe each component one by one

  • If appropriate, include a flowchart, table, or algorithm

 4) Experimental results and discussion

  • State the implementation details first (system and test set characteristics, criteria for experimental evaluation, etc).

  • Present the experimental results and discuss them

  • Compare your results with at least one competing, state-of-art method

5) Conclusions and future work

  • Similarly to a patent application, enumerate the "claims" (aka, contributions) that the paper makes

  • Outline the main directions for future improvements

Format requirements
  • 4 - 6 pages (4 pages strongly encouraged), two-column layout, US letter (8.5 x 11 inches), IEEE style (see style files below)
  • Spell-checked, proof-read text prior to submission (by existing software or a native English speaker).

IEEE eXplore® compliance

  • PDF Compatibility: PDF version 1.3 (Acrobat 4) (assures that Acrobat Readers 4, 5 and 6 will be able to open the document)
  • Optimize PDF: Yes (this allows faster viewing of the first page of the file on the web)
  • Print Resolution: 600 dpi (better print output)
  • Color/Grayscale Images: Bicubic Downsampling at 300dpi (create/scan color images at 300dpi or higher)
  • Compression for Color Images: JPEG/Medium Quality (ensures that the loss of quality due to compression is not excessive)
  •  Monochrome Images: Bicubic Downsampling at 600dpi (same quality as printed text)
  • Compression for Monochrome Images: CCITT Group 4 (to keep the PDF file size reasonable)
  • Compress Text and Line Art: Yes (to keep the PDF file size reasonable)
  • Subset all Font if less than 100% of the Font is used. Otherwise, embed the entire Font (this ensures that all readers see the exact same document)
  • Base 14 Fonts: Subset Adobe Base 14 fonts (e.g. Times, Helvatica, etc) or their equivalent (Times New Roman, Arial, etc.)
  • Security: All security settings must be turned off. NO passwords must be assigned
  • Links and Bookmarks: The final PDF should NOT have any links or bookmarks
  • Page numbers, footers or headers: The final PDF should NOT have any page numbers, footers or headers
  • ALL fonts must be accurately included in the PDF file as an "Embedded Subset"
  • Fonts that require non-English language support are not allowed
  • After creating your PDF, make sure to use "File | Save As" rather than "Save" (this will ensure that the resulting PDF is more compact and ensure the integrity of the PDF file)
  • The paper size for final submission must be US Letter (8.5 by 11) and NOT A4

IEEE Style Files

The style files for LaTex and Word can be found  using the links below. There are several packages available for authors:

  • a package that contains a LaTeX template, test files for both conference and journal articles, and documentation on usage.
  • a package that contains a LaTeX bibliography template, test files, samples, and documentation on usage.
  • a package that contains a Word template in Word format
  • a package that contains a Word template in PDF format

The files labeled IEEEtran are the manuscript template packages, and the files labeled IEEEbst are the bibliography packages. You have to rename the Latex style file as  "IEEEtran.cls". The use of the Latex style or cls file for MMSP can be seen in the following example:

* Latex MMSP example
* This is the resulting PDF file for the example
