Biography
Mike Torres is a Lead Program Manager on the MSN Spaces
team.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Mike was co-founder and Vice
President of Product Development at Jump.com—a Microsoft acquisition that
ultimately became MSN Hotmail’s calendar system in 1999. After close to two
years at Jump.com, Mike continued to work on social software at bCandid
Software in Boulder, CO—a company focused on online discussion sold to Openwave
Systems for $70 million in 2000. At Microsoft since 2002, Mike has worked with
a wide variety of emerging technologies spanning a number of different
products, including the Hotmail Contacts and MSN Messenger server systems, and
both the MSN Spaces back-end and front-end platforms.
Mike received a BA in Psychology with a concentration in
Human Computer Interaction/Computer Science from Cornell University and
currently lives in Seattle, WA. He is currently working on a book project with
Microsoft Press on blogging with MSN Spaces.
