I am a researcher in the Mobility, Networks, and Systems Group. My research interests are in architecture, protocol and performance issues in next generation wired and wireless networks. Here is a short bio.

Projects

I am currently working in the following areas:

  • Mobile device energy management
  • Enterprise traffic characteristics

Previously at Bell Labs, NJ, I worked on a number of interesting projects.

Publications

You can obtain copies of many of my publications here.

Five significant publications:

  1. UCAN: A Unified Cellular and Ad-Hoc Network Architecture , Haiyun Luo, Ramachandran Ramjee, Prasun Sinha, Li Li, and Songwu Lu, in Proceedings of ACM Mobicom'03, Sep 2003.
  2. TCP/IP Performance over 3G Wireless Links with Rate and Delay Variation , Mun Choon Chan and Ramachandran Ramjee, in Proceedings of ACM Mobicom'02, Sep 2002 (selected as one of the top papers for fast track to Wireless Networks Journal).
  3. HAWAII: A Domain-based Approach for Supporting Mobility in Wide-area Wireless Networks , Ramachandran Ramjee, Thomas La Porta, Sandy Thuel, Kannan Varadhan, and Shie-Yuan Wang, in in IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking , Vol 6., No. 2, June 2002.
  4. On Optimal Call Admission Control in Cellular Networks, Ramachandran Ramjee, Ramesh Nagarajan, Don Towsley, in ACM/Baltzer Wireless Networks Journal, Vol 3. , No. 1, 1997, pp 29-41 (selected as one of the top papers of IEEE Infocom'96 ).
  5. Adaptive playout mechanisms for Packetized Audio Applications in Wide-Area Networks, Ramachandran Ramjee, Jim Kurose, Don Towsley, and Henning Schulzzrinne, in Proceedings of IEEE Infocom '94.

Professional Activities

I served as the Program Co-chair of ACM MOBICOM 2006 and IEEE ICNP 2004. Recent service on conference program committees:
