The 10th Microsoft Research Asia-University Joint Laboratory Established in Xi’an

On June 1, 2007, Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) created a joint laboratory with Xi’an Jiaotong University. It’s the 10th MSRA joint laboratory with universities in China. A ceremony was successfully held with the attendance of the representatives of both parties, including Xi’an Jiaotong University President Zheng Nanning and MSRA Managing Director Harry Shum.

The lab will be jointly managed by both parties. The objectives of the lab are to do the fundamental research in the areas of intelligent computing, software systems, and network information processing. Some of the projects may be explored include: Data Mining Principles and Methods based on Perceptual and Cognitive Understanding, Machine Learning Theory and Algorithm under the Framework of Lipschitz Space, and other initiatives.
