Innovation Based on Recognition Research Platform

Invitation for Proposals 2008



Mobile computing significantly changes teaching and learning. With mobility in technology, computers can be leveraged for use in education at any time, any place. Microsoft Research Asia has initiated a regional theme of “Mobile Computing in Education” in the Asia-Pacific region to facilitate the use of mobile computing to explore innovative ways of improving education. Last year, we invited submissions for proposals to help improve interaction efficiency of using Tablet PCs. In 2008, proposals are being sought on another focus of mobile computing: inspiring innovations in building efficient handwriting recognizers. Detail..

Open Research Platform Launched by Microsoft Research Asia


Open Research Platform is an open and extensible platform to support both research and application creation in specific area. It is built by Microsoft Research Asia UR Group, which will facilitate research collaboration and result sharing across academic community in Asia-Pacific region. The first utilization of Open Research Platform is implemented in MSRA regional theme of “Mobile Computing in Education” and focused on the area of efficient handwriting recognizers building. The Open Research Platform for recognition area is named as Recognition Research Platform (RRP), which has been launched in April, 2008.
