The collection of proposals for 2008 Mobile Computing in Education theme has been successfully carried out
University Relations, Microsoft Research Asia


April 08, 2008--The 2008 Mobile Computing in Education theme promoted by Microsoft Research Asia University Relations (UR) covers the topics of data collection and labeling, pattern recognition research algorithm and development, creating pen-based educational applications with the recognizers trained using recognition research platform.

Up to April 01, 2008, UR have successfully collected 30 proposals from more than 25 excellent colleges and institutes in China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand. Many proposals cross two or three topics and show interesting in some educational data sets, e.g. Chinese character, sketch, symbols(mathematical symbol, physical symbol and chemical symbol) etc.

The review of proposals will be finished in April 20 and the announcement of awarded proposals will come soon. The recognition research platform launched on May will integrate the results of these awarded proposals.
