       In this project, we propose a new radical-based recognition approach which shows several features: re-definition of radicals to facilitate segmentation, statistical classification of radicals and integrated segmentation-classification for higher accuracy.

Nankai University, ChinaChemistry Study Assistor: Chemical Formula Manager

       This project contributes a novel application for chemistry knowledge management on Tablet PC platform. At present, it is a hard work for chemistry teachers to prepare teaching material, and it is also a terrible experience for students to go over the chemical course. Their research will provide an innovational application to make chemistry teaching and studying to be more fun and enjoyable.

      They propose to enhance the security of annotation using data hiding technology. New data hiding techniques will be designed to embed authentication data or stamps efficiently into the cover digital ink and at the same time, the perceptional distortions incurred will be minimized.

The University of Tokyo, JapanOn-line Presentation Analyzing System and Its Application for Mobile Presentation Trainer

       They develop a presentation training system that observes a presentation rehearsal and provides the speaker with recommendations for improving the delivery of the presentation, such as to speak more slowly and to look at the audience.

Project Summary

Seoul National University, South KoreaPen-Stroke Sketch Interface for Drawing 2D/3D Figures by Collaborative Multi-Users over the Network for Applications in e-Education

       
The objective of the proposed research is to develop tablet technology that enables math tutors and students draw 2D/3D figures collaboratively on tablet screens shared over the network using pen-stroke sketches as they would draw these figures on a blackboard or on a paper.

University of Auckland, New ZealandIntelligent Mindmap
 

     They propose to develop a prototype tablet PC based mindmapping tool to support pedagogically-oriented brainstorming. The work we propose here is the first of what we envisage as a multi-stage project using mindmaps as a vehicle for investigating ink support for informal documents.

    The Mobile Computing in Education website is now online.  It shows the latest progress for all funded projects.
  • Workshop on Mobile Computing in Education
    Mar 19, 2007 -
    Singapore
    The first Asia-Pacific Regional Workshop on Mobile Computing in Education was held on March 19th and 20th in Singapore. For two days, 40 attendees including 35 from the Asia-Pacific region and 5 from the US discussed and exchanged their research results and experiences in Pen computing in Education.
  • MSRA funds Mobile Computing in Education projects
