The 2nd Microsoft Joint Laboratory Symposium held in Harbin

The 2nd Microsoft Joint Laboratory Symposium was successfully held in Harbin. Harbin Institute of Technology hosted this meeting, which was attended by China's Ministry of Education's Officers, the directors of the Microsoft Joint Labs from universities in Mainland China and Hong Kong, and senior management from Microsoft Research Asia.

Asia Information Retrieval Symposium 2008 held in Harbin

The 4th Asia Information Retrieval Symposium was successfully held in Harbin from Jan. 15 to Jan. 18, 2008. It aims to bring together researchers and developers to exchange new ideas and latest achievements in the field of information retrieval (IR). The scope of the symposium covers applications, systems, technologies and theory aspects of information retrieval in text, audio, image, video and multi-media data.

Microsoft Research Asia and Tsinghua University host Internet Services workshop
August 10, 2007
Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) and Tsinghua University held an Internet Services workshop at Tsinghua University on August 9-10. The event was co-organized by MSRA and the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE)-Microsoft Key Laboratory of Media and Networking Technology at Tsinghua University. Some 70 professors from more than 40 most influential research universities or organizations in the Asia-Pacific region attended.

The Pao-Lu Hsu Statistics Conference 2007 successfully held in Beijing

The Pao-Lu Hsu Statistics Conference 2007: Machine Learning was held on July 11-12, 2007 at Peking University, Beijing. This conference is an event of the Beijing International Math Center and the Microsoft Lab on Statistics and Information Technology at Peking University. It is also sponsored by Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) in Beijing. This conference intends to promote machine learning and its applications in China.

The 10th Microsoft Research Asia-University Joint Laboratory Established in Xi'an
June 1, 2007
On June 1, 2007, Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) created a joint laboratory with Xi’an Jiaotong University. It’s the 10th MSRA joint laboratory with universities in China. A ceremony was successfully held with the attendance of the representatives of both parties, including Xi’an Jiaotong University President Zheng Nanning and MSRA Managing Director Harry Shum.

First MSRA Joint Lab Symposium Held in Hong Kong
December 1, 2006
Since its birth in 1998, MSRA has established nine joint research labs with top universities on the Chinese mainland and in Hong Kong, five of which have become key labs as named by the Chinese Ministry of Education as part of the "Great Wall Plan" between MSRA and the ministry.

New Joint Lab on Digital Animation Established in Beijing
October 23, 2006
On Oct. 23 Rick Rashid and Harry Shum teamed with Huijun Zhang, president of the Beijing Film Academy, and Lijun Sun, dean of the Animation College, to announce the opening of a new joint lab between MSRA and the Beijing Film Academy.
