Research Programs

Research Programs

With the support of an outstanding research team, we develop opportunities for research collaboration with the academic community in the Asia Pacific region.

Research Themes

Offered at the regional level and aimed at supporting basic research in promising areas, projects in a research theme typically have a 2-3 year cycle, addressing the local market needs. Themes are assessed on an annual basis and may vary as changes in the discipline, the industry, or the academia occur.

Opportunity-based Projects

Opportunity-based collaborations target one of MSR Asia's research areas and of mutual interest to both the researcher and the professor. These projects are typically initiated by an individual researcher or a research group and facilitated by the University Relations group.

Joint Labs

MSR Asia builds joint research labs with universities in the regions. Since 1999, ten labs have been established in universities in mainland China and Hong Kong, covering a variety of research areas including natural language processing, multimedia, intelligent systems, computer vision, etc. For a list of joint labs and descriptions, visit here.
