Microsoft acquired Entropic in 1999. Entropic was selling a popular Hidden Markov Model Toolkit (HTK), which was originally developed at Cambridge University. In 2000, Microsoft gave HTK back to Cambridge, who has been distributing HTK free of charge since then.

Entropic was also selling ESPS and Waves, analysis and visualization programs that are quite popular among speech scientists. In 2002, Microsoft and AT&T licensed ESPS free of charge to KTH, who has incorporated parts of it into their WaveSurfer visualization program, available free of charge.

You can also download:

  • Pitch and voicing estimates from Aurora2.
  • Microsoft Easy Camera Calibration Tool.
