The PAMI TC Home Page The PAMI TC Home PageWelcome to the PAMI TC Home page. The IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence has about 2800 members who are interested in computer vision, image processing, speech processing, pattern recognition, and artificial intelligence. Our purpose is to foster communication and collaboration among practitioners in the field.
One of the key activities of the PAMI TC is the PAMI TC Email List. All PAMI TC members are automatically placed on this list, to receive official news from the TC and to participate in TC elections for officers. You can send email to the Email List Maintainer to ask to be specifically added to the list or removed from it. Recent email includes: April/May 1999.
Another activity is the awarding of various prizes. This is an area still under development, but for the moment you can read about our new Awards Committee here.
The PAMI TC regularly sponsors the following major conferences:
- CVPR -- The International Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, held every year in North America, except in years when ICCV is in North America.
- ICCV -- the International Conference on Computer Vision, which is held every 18-24 months, rotating among the continents of Asia, North America, and Europe.
- WACV -- The Workshop on Applications of Computer Vision, held every 1-2 years.
CVPR and ICCV are usually accompanied by numerous Tutorials and Workshops. In addition, other workshops may be sponsored throughout the year by the PAMI TC. The PAMI TC is organizing several committees to carry out various activities:
- A Steering Committee to advise the Chair on policy matters
- A Conferences Committee to help organizers ensure high-quality meetings
- An Awards Committee to give recognition for achievements within the community

- Newsletter
For a time, the PAMI TC had a printed newsletter. It's mostly been superseded by the Web and Newsgroups, but there is a Web site for the issues that were printed.
To become a member of the PAMI TC, you must first join the IEEE Computer Society. Then you can join the PAMI Technical Committee online: see the information and fill out the form here.
