How to install the software
For the installation instructions of Disks 2-5, please see the documentation included on those disks. This section will focus on Disk 1.
Disk 1 contains three software components: MCL, Venice, and Virtual WiFi. To install these components you must first run their “initial installers”. Then you can proceed to install the actual software once these initial installers have been run. The instructions for the “initial installers” are the same, but after this step, the installation process is different for each component.
There are three separate initial installers corresponding to the three components:
- MSRMesh-MCL.MSI
- MSRMesh-Venice.MSI
- MSRMesh-VirtualWIFI.MSI
The default installation directory for the all three software components is C:\MicrosoftResearchMesh. This folder is created for you during installation when you run these initial installers. You can run these initial installers in any order. During initial installation, you will be presented with a license agreement for each of the components, which you must agree to if you want to install that component.
After each initial installer has been run, three folders will have been created, resulting in the following directory structure:
C:\MicrosoftResearchMesh
C:\MicrosoftResearchMesh\MCL
C:\MicrosoftResearchMesh\Venice
C:\MicrosoftResearchMesh\VirtualWiFi
To proceed with the actual component installation, please refer to the documentation within each of the three folders corresponding to that software component. More details on the directory contents after initial installation follow (the documentation links below will work if you installed to the default directories – please edit as appropriate):
Directory contents after initial installation
