Microsoft Research Silicon Valley Located in Mountain View, California, Microsoft Research Silicon Valley was founded in August 2001 and now employs about 45 researchers. Our research work focuses on Distributed Computing and includes privacy, security, protocols, fault-tolerance, large-scale systems, the Web, concurrency, computer architecture and related theory.

Our lab emphasizes technical excellence, technical breadth and flexibility, commitment to impact, and collegial interaction among researchers. Our research projects explore and prototype technologies likely to be strategic to the company in the two to five year time frame.
