Video Textures

Overview

Our video texture work involves the analysis of video to extract its stochastic structure and the subsequent synthesis of new frames based on this analysis. We can capture facial expressions, a candle flame, or a waterfall and identify the repeating sections. We then play back this video using random choices to give a sense of life that a static image or simple repeating video loop cannot provide. This allows us to create lively video portraits with a similar look to those in "Harry Potter."
