| Community Buzz -
revealing
hot topics in online communities |
Community Buzz combines analysis of the content of
online discussions and social structure of the communities to identify
hot topics and visualize how they evolve over time.
Through search and Buzz cloud users can access relevant discussion
threads and adverts linked to the search results and Buzz keywords.
Visualization of keyword trends enables the users to monitor the
popularity of selected topics. Mesasages can be filtered based on the 'social status' of the
author in the community. |

| InSite
Live! -
visualizing
and browsing through Web sites |
InSite is a tool for visualizing the structure of
a Web site that helps Web site visitors to search and browse
through the site.
It identifies sub-sites within a site and displays the topics they
cover in order to assist the users in finding pages of
interest.
It enables Web site administrators to learn how users interact
with their Web sites and how to improve the site organization. |

| mServices |
| mServices is
a set of mobile applications and services that demonstrate how Web
services can be combined with mobile clients to provide flexible
cross-platform communication. |

|
| mGuide |
mGuide is a Web service and mobile application
that incorporates location-based awareness into the user communication.
It assists users in meeting at a particular location by enabling mobile
users to exchange images and messages and to see each other’s
progress on a map. |
|

|
| Journeys |
The user can record a journey through images,
voice messages, and location displayed on maps.
These journeys can be shared with others in real time or in retrospect,
both through PCs and on the mobile devices. |
|

|
| dClone |
dClone enables a user to maintain contact with
another person through subtle, unobtrusive communications.
The sender can compose a display of personal information from images,
voice or text messages, and general online information such as local
time or weather information.
The recipient can choose to have the information displayed on a home
screen at all times to be continuously connected and aware of the
sender’s experience. |
|
 |
| mCommunicator |
There is often
a need to contact
a person by a particular time of day or while the person is at a
particular location. mCommunicator is a Web service that enables the
users to select the best channel of communication with another person
for a particular circumstance. The user only needs to be concerned with
creating a message content and specifying preferences for message
delivery.
The mCommunicator service verifies the status of the recipient and
provides advice on which channel of communication to use for message
delivery. These channels can be e-mail on the PC or mobile device, SMS,
MMS, or WAPPush messages. Once the sender selects the best available
channel, mCommunicator automatically prepares the message in suitable
form and informs the sender about the message status. mCommunicator
thus enables flexible cross-platform communication. |

| SmartNavigation |
| SmartNavigation comprises three features:
SmartBack, SessionOverivew/Sites, and SmartFavourites that extend the
current IE functionality and help users easily revisit pages that they
have seen in the recent past or accessed regularly in the past. All
three features are based on the structure model of the navigation
history that induces the structure from the users interaction with the
browser application. |
 |
| SmartBack |
| SmartBack
complements the standard Back button by enabling users to jump directly
to key pages in their navigation sessions, making common navigation
activities more efficient. It identifies and automatically marks for
quick access the pages that represent navigation hubs, pages that
result from form submissions, including search result pages, and pages
that designate the beginnings of navigation trails, such as typed-in
URLs, or bookmarks. |
|

|
| Overview and Sites |
| Overview
and Sites are two different views on the complete record of the
user’s recent navigation history. Designed to merge
navigation
histories from distinct browser windows and use thumbnails as visual
clues for visited pages, these features ensure that users can easily
revisit any of the pages seen in the recent history. |
|

|
| SmartFavourites |
dClone enables a user to maintain contact with
another person through subtle, unobtrusive communications.
The
sender can compose a display of personal information from images, voice
or text messages, and general online information such as local time or
weather information.
The recipient can choose to have the
information displayed on a home screen at all times to be continuously
connected and aware of the sender’s experience. |

| SearchMobil |

|
SearchMobil is a search support environment for
PDAs that provides flexible viewing and analyses of Web search results,
and local search over documents encountered during the search session.
It incorporates SmartView's document partitioning and thus enables
relevance assessment on both the full document level and its
constituent parts.

| SmartView |

|
SmartView is a browser feature that analyzes
complex Web pages and decomposes them into partitions. These can be
individually selected by the user from a "graphical" menu, i.e. a
thumbnail image of the page indicating the page partition.
A selected portion of the page is accessed and displayed independently
from the rest of the document in a manner appropriate for the small
screens.

| WebScout |

|
WebScout is a prototype application that creates a
complete archive of Web pages accessed by the user and a rich record of
user navigation, including the user's and system's annotations of seen
or previewed pages.

|
|
| MS Read |

|
MS Read is a prototype application which creates
an evolving model of the user's need during searching and browsing on
the Web. It uses that model to analyze accessed documents. The model is
based on the natural language processing of search queries and topic
descriptions explicitly provided by the user while browsing though
documents. It is semantically enhanced using linguistic and custom
knowledge resources.
Elements of MS Read have been integrated into MSN
Toolbar.
