Topic:
Machine Learning Basics - I
Abstract:
Expectation Maximization (EM) is an iterative algorithm often useful in many situations. This talk would review EM algorithm and its applications to mixture distributions, mostly in the context of Gaussian mixture models. Also in this talk, the concept of SVMs (Support Vector Machines) would be discussed. SVMs are an extremely powerful classification tool and this tutorial will discuss SVMs and related formulations for linear classification.
