Graphical Models In NLP
Abstract:
In this talk the speaker would talk on Graphical models and their applications in various NLP tasks such as POS, Chunking, WSD, Semantic-role Labeling. The speaker would also talk about Sequence Labeling as a Classification Task. The two major types of models that would be covered are: 1. Generative (HMM, etc) and 2. Discriminative (Max Entropy Markov Models, CRF, etc).
Bio of the Speaker:
Pushpak Bhattacharyya received his B.Tech from IIT-Kharagpur, M.Tech from IIT-Kanpur, PhD from IIT-Bombay and is a Visiting Research Fellow in Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. He has taught at places like IIT-Bombay, Stanford University and was also a Visiting Research Fellow at MIT, USA. His research areas include Natural Language Understanding, Machine Translation, Information Extraction, Machine Learning and Neural Nets.
