External Research & ProgramsAt Microsoft External Research, we build partnerships between academia, industry, and government to advance computer science, education, and scientific research that increasingly relies on advanced computing. We pursue advances in four areas of research: Computer Science; Earth, Energy, and Environment; Education and Scholarly Communication; and Health and Well-Being. In addition, we focus on the process of research and its role in the innovation ecosystem, supporting efforts in open access, open tools, open technology, and interoperability. We want to empower researchers by developing technologies and services to support every stage of the research process.
