Inspire Programme

Supporting research in developing countries.

The Microsoft Research Inspire Programme is designed to promote and support interaction between academics in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East while recognising exceptional students from developing countries who want to embark on a research career.

This programme currently includes the following components:

• Volunteer Researcher and Lecturer Programme
  • An online service matching universities in developing countries with academics who are willing to volunteer to teach computer science and train teachers
  • A stipend is offered to some volunteers
• Research Summer School Sponsorship
  Sponsorship of computer science research summer schools to support the attendance of students
• PhD Proposal Prize
  A cash prize for promising students who want to embark on research
