Computational Biological Sciences

The Computational Biological Sciences department is part of Microsoft’s European Science Initiative (ESI). Its research focuses on the integration of Computing and Biology and the new fields emerging at the intersection between the two disciplines. We are committed to lead and contribute to the development of these new fields of science by conducting autonomous and collaborative research with academia.


Research Areas

Computational Biology

Application and development of computational methods and tools for modelling and analyzing complex biological systems.

Computational Ecology

Developing novel computational tools and methods to predict and mitigate the rapid changes occurring in the earth’s life support systems.

Natural Computation

A long-range research programme at the interface of biology, chemistry, engineering and information technology exploring nature-inspired computation and biological computing.
