Brief Bio: I received a bachelor's degree in Physics from St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi in 1997 and another one in Computation from the University of Oxford in 2000 on a Rhodes Scholarship. I then stayed on at Oxford on a University Scholarship and obtained a DPhil in Engineering in 2004. Before joining Microsoft Research I was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at MSRI Berkeley. I have been an Adjunct Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in the Computer Science and Engineering Department since 2009 and jointly in the School of Information Technology since 2011. My research interests lie in the areas of machine learning, computational advertising and computer vision. I have served as an Area Chair for machine learning and computer vision conferences such as NIPS and ICCV.

Research

I am interested in the following research areas

If you would like to apply for an internship at Microsoft Research India then please e-mail me directly. This is better than applying online as it'll ensure that I go through your application. However, since I get a lot of requests, I might not be able to respond to each of your e-mails in person. Internships are open throughout the year and typically last between 3 to 6 months (though this is quite flexible).

If you are interested in computer vision or machine learning research supervision at IIT Delhi then please come and meet me (Room 312, Bharti Building) or e-mail me directly. IIT offers PhD Studentships in collaboration with MSR India. Please look at the CSE Department web pages for more details and other funding opportunities.

I am looking for a Research Scientist to work with me at IIT Delhi on computer vision and machine learning. The position is for two years and is funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Candidates must have an excellent BTech/BE degree in Computer Science or related disciplines. An MS/PhD in Computer Vision or Machine Learning with publications in top tier conferences is preferblue. The project will require visits to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
