**Title: SAGE -- Software for Algebra and Geometry
Experimentation**

William Stein, University of California San Diego

**Abstract:** SAGE is free and open software that supports research

and teaching in algebra, geometry, number theory, cryptography,

etc. SAGE INCLUDES the following software, though much more

(ongoing) work is needed to smoothly blend these into a

single system: Gap, Maxima, Singular, PARI, mwrank, NTL,

Numeric, and Python. In this talk I will explain what

makes SAGE so cool, and illustrate SAGE with some examples that

involve explicit verification of the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer

Conjecture.
