Justin Levandoski

Justin Levandoski I am a researcher in the database group at Microsoft Research. I am interested in a broad range of topics dealing with large-scale data management systems. More specifically, some of my interests include cloud computing, database support for new hardware paradigms, transaction processing, query processing, and support for new data-intensive applications such as social/recommender systems. In the past, I have done research on non-blocking join algorithms, Resource Description Framework (RDF) data management, and context and preference-aware data management.

Prior to joining Microsoft, I completed my Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Minnesota, where I was the main architect of CareDB, a context and preference-aware database system.

I am also one of the initial developers of the l7-filter, an application-layer packet classifier for Linux.
