Terminology for SQL used in the report:
Usage Meaning
SQL Generic query language with core syntax select ..

SQL-89 The language defined in ANSI X3.168-1989, ìDatabase
Language Embedded SQL.î
SQL-92 The language defined in ANSI X3.135-1992, ìDatabase
Language SQL.î
SQL-2 An interim name for the second revision to ANSI SQL.
SQL2 became SQL-92. Also is written SQL2.
SQL-3 The working name for the third revsion to the original
1986 standard. Work on SQL-3 has been underway since 1992, and
the hope is that a standard will be published in 1995 or 1996.
Also is written SQL3.
SQL-* The ANSI standard that will follow SQL-3. Used also
to denote that standard, augmented with EOSDIS features. This
is not to be confused with Oracleís SQL*STAR product.
