Some people have been sending me anonymous email, often using mixminion. Some times the authors forget, or do not wish, to include an anonymous reply block, and therefore I am unable to reply to their messages. In case you are not sure how to produce reply blocks, please read the mixminion man page, or the very good mixminion tutorial (section 6). In those cases, and when a reply might be useful, I shall publish it here:
-----BEGIN TYPE III ANONYMOUS MESSAGE----- Message-type: plaintext what about mixminion?? not only TOR is important... mixminion seems to be very good, but only if someone work on it. Laura -----END TYPE III ANONYMOUS MESSAGE-----
Dear L.,
Mixminion is indeed very important to me too, but it is a volunteer effort, and as a result it will take time. Tor, as a project, has the benefit of being funded by the EFF, and as a result Nick has to prioritize it (it is his job after all!). A key development in mixminion will be a clean python interface, being built right now, that will allow other developers to build more easily on the base mixminion code. This should allow services, and extensions to be built, and should distribute a bit more the development effort. Aside from development there is of course the need for better documentation, advocacy, training material... If you could help on any of these please get on the mixminion-dev list and pick a task.
Finally thanks so much for supporting the mixminion effort by using it. It always makes us jump up with joy when we receive an anonymous message!
Yours, George
