Does Internet & the Telecomputer replace the Telephone?

Does Internet & the Telecomputer replace the Telephone?

Network access & bandwidth (wiring) problem:

Telecomputers come in various sizes for phone, browser, mail, videophone (opt.), etc.

1995 function PCs priced @ $1,500 automatically decline 3x, 9x by 2005 by Moore’s Law $1,500 (1995) > $500(2000) >$160 (2005)

1996 low cost Windows terminals cost = $500 B/W or $750 color

Notes:

Just imagine what a Telecomputer would be that replaces the telephone. Before this can occur, a network that can deliver reasonable bandwidth may be required.

Two schemes are posited: X-terminal-like or Winterm dumb terminals that have browser capability and only run viewing programs; and diskless workstation-like platforms capable of running programs that are downloaded.

By merely waiting, the cost of computers automatically decline in price such that a PC is at an acceptable, consumer price level comparable in price to a color television set.

In 1996 Windows terminals are available.
