I have been a researcher at Microsoft Research since 2000, first in the Crypto and Anti-Piracy Group and now in the Machine Learning and Applied Statistics group. Previously, I had an awesome time being a graduate student at the Computer Science Department, at the University of California, Los Angeles. My advisor, Prof. Miodrag Potkonjak, decided I am ripe to close on my school work in 2001. I continued my passion for working on novel systems in the greatest academic environment in the industry. By ferociously misusing the freedom given to my employer's research staff, my instincts have lead me to work on an academically unhealthy broad range of systems. My research interests include:

This adds to my work as a graduate student when I was focused on:

  • embedded system debugging,

  • engineering change,

  • low-power design via variable voltage,

  • intellectual property protection, and

  • various classic optimizations such as graph coloring.

Some of my and my colleagues' work: FaceCerts, fiber-based certificates of authenticity, click passwords, image annotation, and audio forensic tools, one can license from Microsoft. Several of them have already been licensed.
