Songsmith – the totally sweet new product from Microsoft Research – allows novice musicians to get a taste of original music creation, just by singing into a microphone, and provides songwriters with an “intelligent scratchpad” to explore new musical ideas.

Computer support for musical composition
Using physiological signals for input
Improving within-visit information accessibility for hospital patients
My long-term research interests include:
Computer support for creativity in the arts
Novel computer applications in music
Using technology to improve hospital patient experiences
Novel user interface hardware
Signal processing for medical and computer input applications
Brain-computer interfaces
