Songsmith - the totally sweet new product from Microsoft Research - allows novice musicians to get a taste of original music creation, just by singing into a microphone, and provides songwriters with an “intelligent scratchpad” to explore new musical ideas.

I'm a researcher in the CUE (Computational User Experiences) group at Microsoft Research. My current research interests include:
Computer support for musical composition
Alternative input devices and interfaces for improved ergonomics
Physiological signal analysis
My long-term research interests include:
Computer support for creativity in the arts
Novel computer applications in music
Novel user interface hardware
Signal processing for medical and computer input applications
Brain-computer interfaces
