A circle at the left of the status bar is used to indicate status. It is red when the software is disconnected; it is yellow when the user can listen; it is aqua when the user can talk.
Pocket PC and Handheld PC Version 1.2 2002-04-05

This means with Microsoft Portrait, a Pocket PC or Handheld PC can not only display received video, but also capture and send video in real-time. Please refer to Readme for instructions on installation.
Since it takes a few seconds for an HP Jornada pocket camera to adjust exposure, you need to hold the camera towards the target for a while, then click Brighter or Darker in Tools menu to achieve a better visual quality. Please select suitable video bandwidth in Tools->Options->Video menu for video transmission.
Please select 2-level gray scale in Tools->Options->Video menu if you like to see clear shape or select 4-level gray scale if you like to see more gray scale levels.
Please make sure "Capture Video" in the Tools menu is checked if your camera is installed.

Pocket PC and Handheld PC Version 1.08 2002-01-01
Portrait video comes with more gray scales and its visual quality is improved. We extend portrait video from bi-level video (1 bit/pixel) to four-level video (2 bits/pixel). Pocket PC and Handheld PC Version 1.06 2001-11-16
If you are using Pocket PC 2002, the new Pocket PC and Handheld PC version can receive a call from a PC through MSN Messenger. We recommend you to exit Microsoft Portrait (using Call->Exit menu) each time you finish a call so that MSN Messenger can launch Microsoft Portrait next time you receive a call. Currently it is not supported to initiate a call from a Pocket PC or a Handheld PC through MSN Messenger. Please still use direct IP call if you want to place a call from a Pocket PC or a Handheld PC.
Pocket PC and Handheld PC Version 1.04 2001-09-24
Full-duplex audio was enabled for iPAQ 3600 Series since Compaq provided a full-duplex audio driver for iPAQ. Please refer to Readme for information on the installation of the driver and select Full-duplex option in the Tools->Options->Audio menu of the Pocket PC version. Please note as we tested, only one side could use GSM 6.10 audio codec in full-duplex communication, i.e. you could use GSM 6.10 audio codec in one side and Mobile Voice audio codec in the other side, or Mobile Voice audio codec in both sides in full-duplex communication. It is advised that you use an earphone or lower the volume of speaker in your iPAQ to avoid echo. The software still works in half-duplex mode if you are using other Pocket PCs and Handheld PCs except iPAQ.
A united installation file was provided for all Pocket PCs with Microsoft Pocket PC operating system or above and all Handheld PCs with Microsoft Handheld PC 2000 operating system.
A message is displayed in the status line of Pocket PC version to indicate whether the remote part is speaking or listening, which is helpful to half-duplex audio talk.
The "Call-OK" and "Cancel" buttons were moved up in Handheld PC version so that they could be viewed in the not so height screen of Handheld PC.
The big IP number input dial-pad was removed specifically from Handheld PC version since there had already been a hard keyboard in a Handheld PC. Previous versions were mainly designed for Pocket PCs, in which we had not considered Handheld PC's features.
The chat window in Handheld PC should be closed after you have viewed the message, otherwise the next message will be lost.
The IP address of an online Handheld PC can not be correctly gotten and shown in the Help->About menu. Please always place the first call from a Handheld PC to a PC or to a Pocket PC if you do not know the IP address of the Handheld PC.
Pocket PC Version 1.03 2001-09-01
A united installation file was provided for all Pocket PCs including iPAQ 3600 Series, Jornada 540 Series and Cassiopeia E-115, 125, etc.
A big IP number input dial-pad was designed. When a user clicks the "Call-OK" button with the IP address slot empty, the big IP number input dial-pad is popped up. A user can input IP numbers using his thumb. The big IP number input dial-pad can also be called from Call->New Call menu.
When a call succeeds, the user name corresponding to the IP address is retrieved and displayed behind the IP address. This makes it easy to identify contactors in the IP history list.
The delay of talk in using Mobile Voice audio codec was reduced as short as that in using GSM 6.10 audio codec.
Pocket PC and Handheld PC Version 1.02 2001-08-18
By modifying some parts of the architecture, we further reduced the delay in talks. Now it is at normal level.
The bug that in chat the last character of a string sent from Pocket PC to PC was truncated was fixed.
