Multimedia Advertising

The ever increasing multimedia content on the Internet has become the primary source for more effective online advertising. Conventional advertising systems treat multimedia content as the same as general text, without considering automatically monetizing the rich content of the images and videos. This research direction will leverage content analysis and understanding to enable more effective and efficient advertising on multimedia content, whether on the Internet and mobile devices.

Projects:

  • ImageSense. ImageSense automatically finds suitable images in a web page and embeds a relevant product logo in the most nonintrusive region in each image.
  • VideoSense. VideoSense automatically finds the most suitable ad insertion points in a video and inserts the most relevant in-stream ads at these points.
  • AdOn. AdOn automatically finds the most suitable spatio-temporal regions in a video and overlays the most relevant ads on these regions.
  • GameSense. GameSense is able to select suitable images in a web page to create online in-image games for advertising.
  • VideoReach. VideoReach recommends videos by multimodal relevance and user feedback.
