Entangled Bank: Tools for Ecological and Biodiversity Data Management

Creating tools that allow ecologists to collate, manage, integrate and disseminate their data in an efficient, powerful but easy to use way.

The discovery, integration and analysis of highly heterogeneous ecological data are increasingly essential capabilities as ecology and biodiversity science moves from location and situation specific studies to macroecological, landscape and planetary scale studies. We are creating a system for integrating ecological data sources with diverse spatial, temporal scales and from different points in the conceptual hierarchy from individuals to ecosystems. This will facilitate the kinds of multi-scale and multi-system research that are needed to develop a more robust and general understanding of the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning.
