In order to increase user awareness of third party tracking we have investigated designs for visualizing cookie traffic as the users browse the Web.
Cookie Visualizer is an add-on for Firefox that enables users to see the cookie traffic between the Browser and the Web sites as the users browse the Web. Third party cookies are a common means of tracking users’ activities in order to facilitate real-time bidding for display ads on Web pages. Through visualization of cookie information, the prototype informs the users in real time about the third parties that are involved in monitoring their online activities.
