Sometimes it is best not to know, people say. But, when it comes to your own IT tools, like the Browser on your laptop or your phone, it is prudent to be informed about who is tracking your activities while you are browsing. Research on privacy concerns shows that the users are becoming more aware about such third party tracking but have no effective means to deal with the issue. In most instances, the browser default setting is to accept cookies automatically. We have created a Cookie Tracker, an agent that watches the requests for cookie installations. By leveraging a cloud platform, it records information about the user’s exposure through cookies across devices. It presents the user with online information about the sources of the cookies in question. From the compiled information, the Cookie Tracker creates a report on the potential personal data 'leaks' and captures the user’s privacy preferences.
