DIRECTOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
.

Suyash Sinha is the Director of Software Development for the Cloud Computing Futures (CCF) group. CCF is part of the Xtreme Computing Group (XCG), led by Dan Reed, within Microosft Research. In this role, he leads the software development efforts in incubations ranging from cutting-edge hardware bring-up to development of large-scale distributed programming models for the next generation of cloud applications.

XCG's mission is to rethink computing at extreme scale—from alternative quantum computing models, through the revolutionary effects of manycore parallelism, to the massive cloud computing infrastructure and applications that is the future of computing. As the name suggests, extreme computing is moving beyond the current architectural/programming patterns and practices to how computing will be done in the next decades.

Before CCF, Suyash spent about a decade in Windows Core Operating System Division. He has managed some very noteworthy development teams in Windows - such as, Windows Hyper-V hypervisor, and Windows Kernel. He also led the incubation efforts to redefine the Windows Application Model, during which he collaborated with technical and business leaders across the company. He has been instrumental in building features for numerous Windows releases including Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 (Hyper-V), and, most recently Windows 7. He also drove the engineering efforts around the Windows 2000 SP2 CC EAL4 certification.

Before joining Microsoft, Suyash designed and developed high-speed switching protocol stacks such as Asynchronous Transfer Mode, Frame Relay, etc.

Suyash's passions include large-scale distributed systems, high-speed switching technologies, virtual machines (hypervisors, in particular), and operating systems. He has filed several patents based on his area of work. He is an active member & reviewer in ACM.
