Matthew Salganik is a sociologist interested in networks and computational social science. One main area of his research has focused on developing network-based statistical methods for studying hard-to-reach populations such as the groups most at-risk for HIV/AIDS. A second main area of work has focused on using the World Wide Web to collect and analyze social data in innovative ways. His research has been published in journals such as Science, PNAS, Sociological Methodology, and Journal of the American Statistical Association. Prior to joining Microsoft Research New York City, he was a Professor of Sociology at Princeton University.
