Stephen Robertson's STRIX award

Stephen Robertson was given the Tony Kent STRIX award by the Institute of Information Scientists in 1998, its first year.

The award is given annually, "in recognition of outstanding practical innovation or achievement in the field of information retrieval". It commemorates Tony Kent, a long-standing member of the Institute, who made a major contibution to chemical information services in the UK. The name is taken from the Strix owl, and was also the name of a text retrieval program which Tony developed.

Stephen's citation reads "...in recognition of the contribution his researches have made to the advancement of information science, particularly in the field of text retrieval".
