Philip A. Chou is a Principal Researcher in the Multimedia Interaction and Communication research group at Microsoft Research. From 2004 to 2011, he managed the Communication and Collaboration Systems research group, which in the summer of 2011 split into the Multimedia Interaction and Communication group (managed by Zhengyou Zhang) and the Compression Communication and Storage group (managed by Jin Li).
General Interests: signal processing, data compression, information theory, communications, and pattern recognition with applications to video, images, audio, speech, and documents.
Current Interests: telepresence and immersive communication, 3D transmission of the human body, signal processing on graphs, time-of-flight depth cameras.
