Mei-Yuh (美玉) works in the MSR Machine Translaton (MT) incubation team since March 2008, helping technology transfer from research to product. She is also an affiliated professor at the EE Department of University of Washingtion. Her main interests lie in pattern recognition (especially speech and handwriting recognition), statistic modeling, heuristic search, discrete math and algorithms. She is familiar with SPHINX, CMU-LM Toolkit, SRILM Toolkit, HTK, and Microsoft and SRI Decipher speech engines.

Mei-Yuh served in the SSLI Lab in March 2004 to Februry 2008, mainly responsible for developing Mandarin automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems using the SRI Decipher engine. Her team developed the best Mandarin ASR system in the DARPA GALE 2007 evaluation.

Before joining to UW, she enjoyed 10 years at Microsoft Corporation, where she contributed to both research and product development which included the Whisper dictation system, Microsoft Speech API, Office XP English/Mandarin/Japanese dictation and Speech Server.

Mei-Yuh has published many conference and journal papers and serves as a reviewer for IEEE Audio, Speech and Language Processing, Computer Speech and Language, and Speech Communication.
