Melissa is a postdoctoral researcher in the Technology for Emerging Markets Group at Microsoft Research India. She completed her PhD at the University of California, Berkeley School of Information, an ethnography of the evolving uses of communications technology within a health financing organization in Uganda.
Melissa's research resides in the areas of Information, Communications Technology, and Development (ICTD) and Human-Computer Interaction for Development (HCI4D). Her research focuses on the adoption and use of new information technologies for healthcare and health education in emerging regions.
