Kun Tan received the B.E., M.E. and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1997, 1999, and 2002 respectively. He joined Microsoft Research Asia in April 2002. He is now a Researcher in Wireless and Networking Group. His research interests include transport protocols, congestion control, delay-tolerant networking, and wireless networks and systems. He developed the Compound TCP, which has been implemented and deployed in latest Windows OS. He has also led the development of the Sora software radio system. Dr. Tan has published over 30 technical papers in top conferences and journals. He also filed over 40 patent applications and 14 of which have been granted. He won the best paper award in NSDI 2009, and also won best demo awards in NSDI 2009 and Sigcomm 2010. He has served in Technical Program Committee in many top conferences, including ACM Sigcomm, Mobicom, and NSDI. He is an associate editor of IEEE Transaction of Mobile Computing. He is a member of both ACM and IEEE.
