About

I am a Sr. principal research manager at Microsoft Research Asia (opens in new tab) now. I joined MSRA in Sep. 2003. Before that, I obtained my Ph.D degree from Institute of Automation, Chinese Academic of Sciences in 2003 , and my Master degree from Zhejiang University in 2000 respectively.

During the past 16 years, I worked on a series of cross-discipline research areas including multimedia systems, data mining for software systems, machine learning and data mining for business intelligence. Previous projects include multi-view video (multi-view video capturing, compressing and streaming over IP network), Peer-to-peer streaming, data analysis for online services, big-data analysis techniques for business intelligence. Recently, I mainly worked on the following projects: a. research on conversational bot technologies especially designed for data analysis domain, which can help common users to analyze tabular data sets through natural language conversation. b. improve the accuracy and effectiveness of Bing search and enhance the richness and depth of search results by using new advanced AI technologies including LLMs and Deep models.
