About Myself

I'm currently a post-doc at Microsoft Research, Silicon Valley. My research interests are in systems, mobile computing and applications of pervasive computing technology.

I have a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto. My dissertation work was on automatic customization of web content for mobile devices. I've also worked on alleviating resource constaints on mobile devices to enable long-term remote health monitoring via body-worn sensors. At present, I am working on location middleware for mobile devices.

Prior to my career as a research scientist, I designed and developed large software systems at telecommunications companies such as Nortel Networks and Motorola. I have also been involved in developing software at two ISVs: CaseWare International and Pervasive Software.

I've also done a fair bit of teaching in the past. While I was a graduate student at the University of Toronto, I lectured about half a dozen undergraduate courses including Programming Languages, Software Tools and Systems Programming, and Discrete-Event Simulation and Modeling.

Apart from computers, I have some other passions: Economics (seriously!), reading, astronomy, travel and video games. I also enjoy running, archery and bicycling.
