About Myself

I'm currently a post-doc at Microsoft Research, Silicon Valley. My research interests are in distributed systems, mobile computing and applications of pervasive computing technology.

I have a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto. My dissertation work was on automatic customization of web content for mobile devices. At IBM Research, I worked on long-term remote health monitoring. At present, I am working on location middleware for mobile devices, the intersection of cloud computing and mobile computing, and turning phones into a replacement for traditional desktop computers.

Prior to my career as a research scientist, I designed and developed software systems at telecommunications companies such as Nortel Networks and Motorola. I have also been involved in developing software at two ISVs: CaseWare International and Pervasive Software.

I've also done a fair bit of teaching in the past. While I was a graduate student at the University of Toronto, I lectured about half a dozen undergraduate courses including Programming Languages (CSC 324), and Software Tools and Systems Programming (CSC 209).

Apart from computers, I have some other passions: Economics (seriously!), reading, board games, astronomy, travel and video games. I also enjoy running, archery and bicycling.
