RESEARCHER
.

I am a Researcher at Microsoft Research Redmond. I do research at the intersection of information retrieval, natural language processing and data mining. My primary research goal is to understand how people interact with information and to develop algorithms for evaluating and improving information retrieval systems. A key part of my work involves analyzing large-scale text data and user behavior data with applications to search success prediction, search ranking, recommendation and personalization.

I got my Ph.D. from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, where I was studying how language use reveals the formation of social relations in on-line communities. I then moved to Microsoft Research Redmond to join the Internet Services Research Center (ISRC).
