I am a researcher of the Information Retrieval and Mining Group at Microsoft Research Asia.

I received B.S. and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Science and Technology of China and the State University of New York at Buffalo, respectively. Before joining Microsoft, I was an assistant professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

My current research interests include data mining and information retrieval. In particular, I am interested in developing search applications using massive log data. Recently, I have been working on context-aware search and OLAP on search logs. Prior to joining Microsoft, I worked in Bioinfomatics, particularly, exploring gene expression patterns, mining protein-protein interaction data, and jointly mining various biological data sources.
