Darren Edge
RESEARCHER
.

I am a researcher in the Human-Computer Interaction Group at Microsoft Research Asia, based in Beijing, China. My design-oriented research approach combines both empirical and abstract analysis of significant life activities, with a view to developing interactive systems that transform those activities for the better. In my work to date, this has led me to explore how various forms of mobile, tangible, and ubiquitous computing technology can support learning and communication across a variety of domains, including second language learning, social exertion gaming, working at a desk, and presenting to an audience.

Prior to joining MSRA in 2008, I spent seven years at the University of Cambridge, first obtaining my undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Management Studies, before completing my PhD dissertation in the Rainbow Group at the Computer Laboratory supervised by Alan Blackwell.

Internship opportunities are available year-round; contact me for details!
